While coursework during the four-year program will be asynchronous, there will be many opportunities for connection between teacher and student. Students will have the flexibility to complete tasks, projects, and assessments at their own pace utilizing an interactive online learning platform established by The Mount Vernon School. Additionally, students will be able to engage with high touch faculty members for dialogue, questions, and tutoring through dedicated “office hours.”
By fostering meaningful relationships with global, national, state, and local marketplace leaders and partners who align with the School’s mission, students experience a variety of opportunities in diverse industries and environments (corporate, nonprofit, and civic), allowing students to follow sparks of motivation, interest, and curiosity. As a result, students develop a deep sense of agency, competence, and confidence when designing and creating. And they have a ton of fun bringing their ideas to life. Here are a few of the organizations we work with:
The Mount Vernon School Organization is made up of three distinct entities each serving a unique audience and each supporting and adding value to the next.
The Mount Vernon School, based in Atlanta, GA, has been a leading private, independent school for over 50 years and is home to over 1250 students from age 3 through Grade 12. Mount Vernon School Online is a virtual independent school serving grades 9 – 12 with a mission to design a better world, together. Through transformational research and design provided by Mount Vernon Ventures, our programs remain at the forefront of educational innovation.
A concept that we believe will serve our students to become college-ready, globally competitive, and engaged citizen leaders is SOCIAL CAPITAL defined as access to, and ability to, mobile relationships that drive access to opportunity.
