Celebrating Student Growth and Expanding Support at MVSO

Back to all posts

As the school year comes to a close, MVSO is celebrating the growth, accomplishments, and relationships that have shaped the student experience. Throughout the year, students have demonstrated resilience, curiosity, creativity, and determination while building confidence and preparing for what comes next.

Celebrating the Class of 2026

This month, MVSO celebrates ten graduating seniors and the meaningful impact they have made on the community.

As they prepare for college and new opportunities beyond high school, these graduates carry with them the independence, adaptability, and confidence they have developed throughout their MVSO experience. We are proud of all they have accomplished and look forward to seeing how they contribute to the communities and experiences ahead of them.

Expanding Student Support

As MVSO continues to grow, the program is expanding the support systems that help students feel known, connected, and successful.

Kelli Bynum is joining MVSO as the new Director of Counseling Services. After supporting students throughout Mount Vernon’s day school community, she will now extend that work into the online environment.

Through individual check-ins and community-wide initiatives, Kelli will help students reflect, navigate challenges, and move forward with greater confidence.

Strengthening Student Connection

MVSO is also welcoming Jalen Hagens, Mount Vernon’s Student Ambassador Prefect, as a resource for online students.

As a student leader, Jalen helps connect learners to the larger Mount Vernon community and provides a peer perspective on student life. Students can reach out to him with questions, learn more about opportunities for involvement, and find new ways to feel connected throughout their experience.

Making Space to Recharge

After a meaningful and productive year, summer provides students with time to rest, reconnect, and explore interests beyond their courses.

Whether traveling, spending time with family and friends, pursuing new opportunities, or simply slowing down, students are encouraged to make space for the experiences that help them return refreshed and ready for what comes next.
